WHILE Britain was in the grip of arctic conditions, the Cheshire Jets were on fire as they burned MK Lions in Milton Keynes last night.
After their match against Essex Pirates 24-hours earlier was cancelled due to the freezing weather, the Jets were pumped up and it was the Lions, featuring former Jet Shawn Myers, who paid the price.
The game broke open in the first quarter as the Jets raced into a 34-21 lead and by half-time they were 59-34 in front and cruising.
The Lions had Myers in-form scoring 20 but Jets guard Jeremy Bell, fast establishing himself as the standard for guards in the BBL, hit a game-high 31 to lead his team to the win.
Colin O'Reilly bagged 23 and Gareth Murray contributed 16 as the Jets signed off for Christmas by shoreing up second place behind BBL Championship leaders Mersey Tigers to set up a very interesting second half of the campaign in 2011.
