FREE-SCORING Chez Marks is hoping his recent red hot form will help fire his Cheshire Jets team to victory in Sunday’s playoff showdown with local rivals Everton Tigers.
The 29-year-old guard, who has been Jets’ top-scorer in the last two games, picking up a total of 47 points against London Capital and Essex Pirates respectively, is now targeting another major points haul this weekend.
“Everyone is up for it. We have rested up and now we are back into practice and focusing on Sunday,” he said.
“We have been playing really hard and hopefully we can get the wins we need to appear in the final and win the playoffs. Newcastle have won the league but this is another chance for us to win a trophy.”
The Jets should be able to field a full-strength squad against Everton in front of what is expected to be another sell-out crowd at the Northgate.
A few players are carrying injuries while James Hamilton could make a welcome return from injury.
Marks added: “I picked up a bang against Leicester but it’s a nagging injury. It will stay sore but I am happy to play through it.”
Marks believes the prospect of Hamilton returning from injury could be “the missing piece of the puzzle” when the two sides meet this Sunday.
Hamilton, who has been nursing a shoulder injury all season, is hoping to be involved against Everton which will come as a boost to coach Paul Smith’s playoff preparations.
Hamilton said: “I am definitely ready. In games like these, adrenaline will get you through 100%.
“I have had a bad shoulder for about 10 years now and it has gradually got worse and worse due to cortisone injections I have had. I am just trying to rest it now so I can be ready for Sunday.”
