The feel good factor is back and here to stay, that’s the view of Cheshire Phoenix chairman Andrew Donaldson after seeing his side achieve a BBL Trophy semi final berth.

A packed Northgate Arena witnessed the Nix 11th victory in 14 outings on Sunday and showcased the community spirit which has driven the club forward from the ashes of the Cheshire Jets.

In the space of 14 months the rebranded Nix have risen from the doldrums to regain their spot as one of British basketball’s elite sides, something which Donaldson puts down to the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers behind the scenes.

“This isn’t my club, I’m just the custodian. This is a club for the fans and the community and you can see just how they have taken it to their hearts,” said Donaldson.

“The place was bouncing on Sunday and the fans were phenomenal.

“There’s been a total transformation and all the hard work getting out and about in the community and the schools has paid off.”

With the club on the brink of a BBL Trophy  final spot and on an impressive run of form, Donaldson believes the best is yet to come.

“People want to see a winning side and that is what we have got,” he said.

“We have a great coach, great players and a great fan-base.

“We have a really bright future.”
