West Cheshire League

Two games into the new season and Chester Nomads are joint leaders of Division One with a maximum return of six points.

Greg Lodge's double and Callum Johnson gave them a 3-1 win at Capenhurst Villa at the weekend. Nomads started the campaign with a 3-0 defeat of neighbours Upton AA with goals from Dale Harris (2) and Ed Moss.

Blacon Youth Club remain unbeaten following a 1-1 draw at home to West Kirby & Wasps with John Dorrian earning them a point. Blacon kicked off the season with a 2-2 against Helsby with Aaron Hinchcliffe and Lee McElmeel cancelling out replies from Matt Johnson and Jamie McArtney.

Helsby crashed 4-1 at Vauxhall Motors on the weekend with Dean Walker getting a consolation.

Upton AA have still to find the net after following up the loss to Nomads with a goalless draw at Heswall on Saturday.

In Division Three, Zak Adams helped Helsby Reserves make a winning start with a 1-0 defeat of Bootle Reserves and Steve Millington netted as Upton AA Reserves went down 3-1 at home to visiting Heswall Reserves.

Chester & Wirral League

A new phase in the league's history kicked off on Saturday with Ellesmere Port putting down a marker in the Premier Division courtesy of a 6-1 win over rivals Ellesmere Port Town Reserves. Nick Monaghan led the way with a hat-trick with Peter Barnett, Luke Hunt and Lee Youds accounting for the rest.

Whitby Athletic scored four unanswered second-half goals to triumph 5-1 at Lodge Bar. Cal Wynne (2), Paul Butler, Sean Weaver and Ross Grimes netted with Tom Fellows responding.

Shaftesbury Youth came from behind three times to beat Christleton Celtic 5-4 with goals from Anthony Povall (2), Danny Smith, Mike Watkins and Ali Major.

James Marsden and Mark Lawlor gave Higher Bebington Kelma a 2-1 win at Uberlube, who replied through Jordan Jones.

In Division One, Blacon Thistle started their campaign with an emphatic 8-1 home win over Gardeners Arms. Joe Henry hit a hat-trick with further strikes from James Henry, Matty Mackin, Danny Davies, Tom George and a goal of the season contender from Warren Roberts.

Sam Davies (2), Josh Taylor-Pogue, Jay Page and Alfy Cheers gave FC Blacon a comfortable 5-1 win at Chester Nomads 3rds, while Cestrian Alex beat Lodge Bar 2nds 4-3 thanks to Adi Gough (2), Joe Walters, and Niall Peaker.

Newton Athletic edged hosts Elton Athletic 2-1 despite a goal from Bryan Mills. Dave Swain bagged seven goals as Franklyn's thumped Ashton 8-3 and Dan Pearson's double gave Neston Nomads Reserves a 2-0 win over Neston Town.

The three newcomers in Division Two celebrated wins with Anthony Ferguson's hat-trick helping Ellesmere Port Spartans defeat Eastham Athletic 3-2.

MBNA travelled to Ellesmere Port Town 3rds and won 6-3 with Liam Mumford, Matthew Walker and Danny Hughes on target for the hosts.

Four-goal Adam Bagley inspired New Ferry Rangers to an 8-0 win over Hoole Youth, Ian Thomas hit a last minute winner for Orange Athletic in a 3-2 win over Crossway and Steve Finlay (2), Nial Evans and John Britton netted for Samba in their 4-1 win over Clubbies.

Cheshire League

Premier Division pacesetters Malpas lost for the first time this season, going down 2-0 at Rylands. Connor Anderson's penalty and Odi Koubemba got the goals.

Danny Ball and Joe Marley got the goals as Tarporley Victoria beat hosts Daten 2-0 to secure their first win of the campaign.
