DAVE McKay powered his way to a silver medal display at Bedford.

The West Cheshire AC thrower represented Cheshire at the UK Counties Athletic Union Track and Field Championships and launched the javelin to 63.54m for second spot.

McKay has been instrumental in West Cheshire AC’s title-winning Northern League Division Two West campaign this year and is now preparing for action at next month’s promotion match at Doncaster.

Meanwhile, Emily Ball celebrated a hat-trick of titles at the Colwyn Bay Games.

The West Cheshire AC thrower grabbed a new Colwyn Bay Games record of 34.77m in the discus, hit a new personal best of 10.60m in the shot, and won the javelin with 24.47m.

Emma Howe launched the under 13 girls javelin to a winning mark of 27.87m at the Southport Waterloo open meeting staged at Litherland.

Tamsin O’Keefe represented West Cheshire AC in the U11 girls 600m and clocked a winning time of one minute 54.6 seconds, before winning the long jump with 3.77m, and clocking 22.1 in her 150m heat.

Christian Okeke posted 11.6 seconds for second position in the men’s 100m, while Alan Littler cleared 1.70m for fourth place in the men's high jump, and Mark Hearn was second in the U17 men’s 400m in 55.6 seconds and won the shot with 8.65m.

His brother, Ewan, was second in the U15 boys shot (7.43m), third in the 100m (13.4), and sixth in the 200m (29.6), while Joseph Morrison clocked 2:32.0 in the U15 boys 800m, and hit 25.73m for fifth spot in the javelin.

Finnian Bowyer posted 15.4 seconds in the U13 boys 75m hurdles, 15.1 in his 100m, and 31.1 in the 200m, while Will Scott clocked 14.2 in his 100m, and hit 6.62m for third place in the shot.

Adam Howe won his heat of the U11 boys 75m in 11.4 seconds and clocked 1:58.5 for fourth spot in the 600m, while Paul Morrison (2:48.1) and Alex Mason (2:49.5) completed the under 13 boys 800m.

Ellie Finn posted 24.0 seconds in her U13 girls 150m heat and rounded the 800m in 3:11.6, before long jumping 3.44m.

Fixtures this weekend include the Cheshire County AA Track Relay Championships at Macclesfield, on Saturday (11am start).
