Young footballers from Frodsham Manor House school have been showcasing their skills in illustrious surroundings.

They were invited to take part in a tournament held by Liverpool Football Club as part of the Premier League Schools Community.

There were teams from 12 schools from all over the Wirral and Liverpool who played games across two leagues. The winners of both leagues progress to a regional tournament.

Frodsham Manor House drew their first game 0-0 against a Prescot school, but went on to win the next three all by the score of 3-1.

This proved vital as they finished joint top with the team from Prescot.

Stu Winterburn, who is one of the Frodsham Manor House parents who coaches the school team said: “It boiled down to goal difference and as both schools were waiting to hear who would win the atmosphere was amazing. The LFC coach went through the teams in the league and then it was down to two teams. ‘And in 2nd place... Prescot’.

“That was it, the lads were over the moon and couldn’t stop singing and laughing. Now they have the chance to play winning teams from all over the north west. Then who knows, win that and it’s on to the national tournament...”
