A writer is searching for young creatives to bring his vision of presenting a ‘nod to the old-style variety shows of the past’ to life.

Adam Glennon will stage The Weird and The Wonderful at the Daveham Theatre in Northwich for two nights in April and is appealing to Cheshire-based performers to help him put on a good show.

One of the nights will be for 16 to 18-year-olds, while the other will be for over 18s.

'A great opportunity'

Adam, who lives in Stockport, explained: “The Weird and The Wonderful brings many aspects of my creative and personal ambitions together.

“This is a great opportunity for groups or individuals with a taste for the dramatic, fun and craziness of performance art or humour, and is suited to performers looking to gain further experiene and willing to work as part of a team.”

The former factory manager decided to turn his hobby of penning poems and stories into his career because he believed it would ‘never feel like work ever again’.

As well as developing The Weird and the Wonderful, Adam is writing and directing a play for the Widening Participation Team at Manchester Metropolitan University and a music video for a Manchester-based band.

“My whole ethos as a dad, writer, workshop developer and creative thinker is to work with others and develop ideas that give young people a platform to showcase their talent and skills,” he added.

Auditions will be held in March.

Adam is also seeking invididuals or groups able to help with marketing, branding and promoting the show on social media.
