Students from Upton-by-Chester High School have received a top award.

They have been appointed as Oxfam Youth Ambassadors, an accreditation from Oxfam, the international charity organisation which strives for global justice and equality.

Elinor Gray and Rebecca Clough, both 15, said: “We are really proud of our Oxfam Youth Group’s work and hope to do more in the future. Our work with the group has enabled us to raise awareness of worldwide issues. If we convince other students in our school that they can make a difference themselves, then surely our world will become a better place.”

The students campaign with Oxfam to make conditions better for people around the world. They have taken part in fundraising, petitions, written to Parliament and led assemblies and meetings.

The next campaign led by the Upton-by-Chester High School Oxfam Youth Action Team is ‘Send My Friend to School’. Students will be supporting every child’s right to go to school.
