University of Chester students in Brussels are safe and well after avoiding today’s attacks.

The university has confirmed that three students – two studying in the Belgian capital and one on a work placement there - are all accounted for.

At least 31 people have been killed and many seriously injured in the attacks at Brussels international airport and a city metro station.

As soon as the first reports emerged of today’s tragic events, the university’s Department of Modern Languages contacted all three students to offer support.

There are also 10 students, whose home is in Belgium, currently studying for University of Chester qualifications.

Of those, seven are at the University of Chester itself, with three studying at its partner colleges.

The university’s Student Support and Guidance team will maintain contact with all the students to offer support during this tragic and difficult time.
