A UNION is warning that Halton schools could face a shortfall of £15.45m if the Conservatives win today’s General Election.
Unison claims Tory plans to allow private companies, parents and faith groups to set up their own schools, would wipe millions of pounds from existing local school budgets.
General secretary Dave Prentis said: “The Tories’ plans for schools are at best elitist and at worst would damage local schools irreparably.
“Local schools would be left fighting for their survival if they had 15% wiped off their budgets. In Halton this would mean a shortfall of £15.45m.”
