NESTON has appointed its first town mayor.

Cllr David Clark was invested with the chain of office by Cllr Moira Andrews on May 11 at Neston Town Council’s annual meeting.

Little Neston representative Cllr Martin Barker was elected deputy mayor.

A by-election to fill a vacancy in Ness ward following last month’s resignation on health grounds of Mike Wellman can be triggered by 10 electors from Ness, but otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

Anyone wishing to be considered for co-option should call the town clerk on 05603 446040.
