All survived the compost loo.

Bird-feeding at 8.15am.  Surrounded by hungry and colourful rosella parakeets seeking breakfast from our hands.

Get kitted out and set off on a mammoth walk down the 900 steps of the Giant Stairway.

Then trek across the forest floor, a further 900 steps out of the valley and a final 2.5km cliff walk.  Exhausted.

Olivia is ready to go 'home' to Sydney!  Lunch in the rather genteel Leura - note for British caterers:  as a coeliac, in nearly every cafe or restaurant throughout Australasia, there is something gluten free on the menu.

From frittata to salads, cakes to bread rolls, I have been well nourished.

After lunch I am ready for a shopping spree in the art-deco town of Katoomba but Alasdair insists there is more scenery to enjoy and it's back in the car to Mount Wilson and a detour on the back roads back to the city.  We get lost.

Arrive at Ken and Margaret's in time for another hour on the phone to Qantas.  They have put on extra flights to the UK but they are all full.  "But do call back again tomorrow.....?"
