As Gordon Brown has said ‘the debates are over, it’s decision time’.

Over the last few weeks all the candidates vying for the Congleton seat have been invited to spell out their views on set topic.

So before the polls open tomorrow morning, we give the candidates one last chance to convince you why you should vote for them.

ON THE doorstep people frequently ask me “why are you in politics?”. I tell them, the reason is this - I look at the world my two boys are growing up in and think it could be so much better than this.

We have a choice. We can stay on the side lines or get involved and try to make a positive difference. That’s why I’ve chosen to get involved.

So, why should you vote for me, Fiona Bruce, your Conservative candidate to be MP for the Congleton Constituency? Here are three good reasons:

Britain deserves better than five more years of Labour’s failure, mismanagement and waste. Labour’s irresponsible economic policies have given us a credit, debt and jobs crisis. People, young and old, are worried about their futures.

Britain deserves a fresh start. A Conservative Government determined to build a confident future for us all, to support enterprise, skills training, and productivity, to tackle head-on unemployment and welfare dependency, reduce public debt, back up teachers to ensure discipline in the class room, strengthen our national identity and put the Great back in to Britain.

Congleton constituency deserves a fresh start. A new member of parliament committed to our local community. Someone who has built a successful business here in Cheshire over 20 years, brought up her family here, and is determined to work hard, listen to you, and make a positive difference.

David Cameron said this week: ‘Britain needs a stable government that from day one will get our economy working, tackle welfare abuse and reform our rotten political system. Only the Conservatives can make that happen’.

NATIONALLY and locally, the other parties deride the Labour Government for what they have done, yet the improvements to the health service, education and policing have been dramatic over the last 10 years.

Cancer patients are now seen and treated within weeks, educational results have improved and crime has decreased.

Over the next five years, only the Labour Government has the experience and plans to ensure we bring down the deficit while protecting public services.

Locally Labour has been second in the last election and is the only credible choice if you believe that you need a new, fresh MP that will actually do something for the people they represent. Change in this constituency means a vote for Labour.

If elected as MP, I am passionate about helping those that need it, and creating the right infrastructure for those that wish to thrive. This takes hard work and dedication and I will commit to the people of this wonderful constituency, that I will represent them to the best of my ability.

As a resident of this constituency I want to ensure that everyone will see what a difference a hard working and focussed MP can make to people lives, and pledge to focus on local issues to build a better community for all.

I will work with the local community to improve democracy by creating a representative group to focus on local issues. I will ensure that I am available to the electorate at any time.

I will help build the local economy by making this constituency as a hub for the high tech industries of the future and I will ensure that those that need help get it.

I AM offering you the only credible alternative to another Conservative MP.

Recent local elections and my own canvassing show clearly that Labour and UKIP cannot win in this constituency.

I will bring my own life experiences including 30 years training and working in the NHS to benefit you, our borough and the nation.

If you elect me to Westminster, I will be part of a highly talented, committed and enthusiastic team of Liberal Democrats. I will do my utmost to see that the decisions taken by this next parliament are in the best long term interests of the country.

Locally, I will do all I can to preserve our local services, facilities and quality of life. I will want to reform our planning laws so that we have third party rights of appeal so that if the Middlewich incinerator had been passed it would have been possible to continue the fight against it.

I will work with local councillors, third sector groups and individuals to obtain the best possible deal for East Cheshire at Westminster.

I will hold regular surgeries to listen to people’s concerns, take action to help them and keep abreast of local issues. I will campaign for ordinary people so that they can continue to enjoy their lives free of concern about their children, parents, health and old age.

I believe passionately that people should be actively involved in decisions that affect them by taking them as locally as possible and meaningful consultation. I also believe in vibrant local communities. These should be underpinned by sufficient resources.

FOR over two decades, the career politicians governing our country have betrayed and misled the very people who elected them to office.

The wilful intent of the political class to destroy our country is criminal and has to be stopped.

I believe in a strong and independent Britain free from the stultifying embrace of the federal EU super state. Britain is more than a province of the EU, Britain is an international nation, the birth place of parliament, justice and freedom.

I want to see those values prosper and grow. Britain does not need the EU, the EU needs Britain to continue paying for the folly of the European federal dream.

The last 12 months have been eventful for our MPs. The expenses scandal has shaken our trust in those we elected into office right to the very core.

The ratification of the Lisbon Treaty means that the government has handed over the reins of power to faceless bureaucrats in Brussels but it’s not too late, we can still effect change, and the time for that change is now.

I believe in open government at national and local levels. We, the people, should make our own decisions on issues which affect our lives, irrespective of whether those issues pertain to our local or national identity.

If you place your trust in UKIP I will endeavour to work on behalf of you and the community in which you live; I will listen to your worries and concerns, and put your interests and the interests of our great country above those of the Westminster party machines.

Use your vote. Effect change, a change for you, your children and your country.

POLITICAL parties do not work for you it is only the individual and we should not be looking at this as a presidential election as the media have made it out to be because there is more than three parties.

I believe that whomever you decide to vote for should be on the merits of what they have to offer irrespective of whom they represent.

They should have the ability to think for themselves and to have the conviction to support what is good or refuse to support something that is wrong irrespective of their allegiances, but political parties do not give you this.

The prime example of this was over the car parking charges the council voted for it even though it might have been overturned if some of the Tories did not have their other arms thrust up their back.

Do not let any party say that they worked to get these charges overturned because they did not, it was the shopkeepers and businesses of the towns that brought the public together to fight the issue. They were not doing it as a political party but as their democratic right to be heard. Political manifestos are there to be broken it happened at the last change in government always blaming the last one for their failings to cover up their own.

Who is Paul Edwards and why could you support him? I live here, I always work for all the people I represent and that is the whole of Congleton district, even the Conservatives recognised that on Congleton Borough Council.

I am not here just for the election and have seven years service as a local independent councillor and I will continue after the election is over irrespective of whatever happens.

All I ask is that you choose someone you believe will work for us all not what colour badge they are wearing.

THE unfortunate truth for Congleton, if you vote anything but Conservative, you might as well stay at home.

There are 72,000 voters in the Congleton Constituency, 22,000 will vote conservative and 50,000 if they bother, will spread their votes amongst the other candidates.

This means a conservative win, the conservatives don’t need to make any effort either now or once elected.

The only way to stop this is to vote for one single candidate and I believe that this is me.

I have lived in this constituency nearly all my life. I am a business manager. I am offering to you a guarantee of referendums on major policy decisions passed through parliament.

If you elect me, even if you don’t agree with me, it does not matter because I have made a pledge to allow every voter direct access to their MP.

I, will faithfully represent the majority view of the constituency at all times, the referendums I am promising will be the deciding factor in the way your MP votes on your behalf in parliament.

You will have the ability throughout the next parliament to have a key voice in the decisions made.

If you vote for anyone else, you are wasting your vote.

I know this sounds arrogant, but I believe that together 72,000 people who include entrepreneurs’, doctors, barristers, accountants, scientists, builders, plumbers etc, should be consulted on more, than just if they prefer red, yellow or blue once every four years.

If you elect me, we will be the most influential constituency in the country, the only one speaking with 72,000 voices.
