THE volcanic ash crisis which has crippled Europe for the past week also affected pupils from Ysgol Eifionydd in Porthmadog.
21 year ten pupils from the school were due to visit Iceland last week for a four day trip as part of their GCSE geography, tourism and leisure course.
The travelling party were forced to turn back en route to Heathrow last Thursday as the ash situation worsened. Teacher, Glenda Murray said: “Its disappointing, but there's nothing we can do about it. The challenge now is for us to reorganise the trip before the end of the term which doesn't clash with exams.”
