We all know that Cheshire has spawned some people who have gone on to do some pretty impressive things.

There aren't many counties in the UK that can boast 007 himself, in the form of Chester-born Daniel Craig, or a multi-million pound superstar like Gary Barlow, who was born in Frodsham.

But Cheshire has a lot to be proud of in all walks of life, and with this in mind, we've taken a look at some of the famous faces you might be surprised to learn come from our beautiful county.

Chris Evans

TV presenter and radio DJ Chris Evans was born in Warrington in April 1966 and spent his childhood in the town, even running an alternative tuck shop at Padgate High School.

Before hitting the big time on the radio, Evans had a number of jobs in and around Warrington, including a private detective agency and as a 'Tarzan-ogram', according to online reports.

Martin Lewis

The Money Saving Expert was born in Withington, Manchester, in May 1972 but moved with his family to Norley, near Delamere Forest, as a youngster when his father took up a post as headmaster of Delamere Forest School.

Martin later attended the King's School in Chester and was honoured with an honorary doctorate in business administration from the University of Chester in 2013.

Paula Radcliffe

The fastest Women's Marathon runner in history, Paula Radcliffe was born in Davenham, Northwich in December 1973. She was a member of Frodsham Athletic Club and lived in Kingsley before the family moved to Bedfordshire when she was 12.

The Manchester United player and England star was born in Warrington in December 1992 and attended high school in Orford before joining Manchester United's youth academy.

Melanie Chisholm

Sporty Spice, a.k.a Melanie C was born in Whiston in Lancashire in January 1974 but later moved to Widnes before finding fame in the Spice Girls.

John Bishop

Although comedian and actor John Bishop was born in Liverpool in November 1966, he grew up mostly in Winsford and Runcorn, attending Murdishaw Primary and Brookvale Academy in Runcorn.

Jonathan Agnew

The professional cricketer turned cricket broadcaster was born in Macclesfield in April 1960 but the family later moved to Lincolnshire.

Sue Johnston

The Royle Family and Brookside actress was born in Warrington in December 1943 as Susan Wright.

She grew up in nearby Prescot and worked as a tax inspector and for Beatles manager Brian Epstein before making her TV debut in 1982.

The Homes under the Hammer presenter and I'm a Celebrity contestant was born in Warrington in July 1963, growing up in nearby Stockton Heath.

Ian Curtis

Borin in Stretford, Manchester in July 1956, the late Joy Division singer grew up in a working class household in Macclesfield.

Showing a flair for poetry, Curtis was awarded a scholarship at age 11 at Macclesfield's independent King's School where he developed his interests in philosophy and literature.

His untimely death in 1980 at the age of 23, occurred in the kitchen of Curtis' house in Barton Street, Macclesfield.

Nicola Roberts

Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts grew up in Runcorn following her birth in Lincolnshire in October 1985.
