A man was arrested after police raided three homes in Helsby yesterday as part of an operation to crack down on drug-related crime.

The 29-year-old was arrested for possession with intent to supply and handling stolen goods at an address in Springfield Avenue at about 8.30am.

A quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia were seized from the flat, as well as a fridge police believed was stolen.

The man has been remanded in police custody.

Two other properties in the area were searched in connection with the operation.

PC Dave Walton of the Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: “It is a message to the local community that drugs will not be tolerated, especially in an area where vulnerable people reside.

“If you are suspicious similar activity is happening near you, tell Cheshire Police about it and we will take positive action.”

Officers from the Western Rural NPU were accompanied by personnel from the Ministry of Defence Police’s Operational Support Unit and specialist equipment was used to gain entry to the homes.

Anyone with information about drug related crime should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
