Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones made a special appearance in Chester on Saturday.

The taekwondo champ took time out of her busy training schedule to meet staff and customers at adult gaming centre Cashino on Foregate Street.

Cashino, which operates 155 centres across the UK, is sponsoring Jade in her quest for gold in the upcoming 2016 Olympics in Rio. The sports star visited its Chester branch to show her appreciation for their continued support, happily speaking with visitors outside of the centre and giving young fans an opportunity to obtain autographs and take photos.

The 21-year-old from Flint said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Cashino Chester and I feel so humbled that so many people have turned up to show their support. It’s fantastic to see people interested in taekwondo, especially so many youngsters who seem to have a real passion for the sport.

“The fans have given me some amazing words of encouragement and it is this support that makes these visits an absolute pleasure. I’ll certainly try my best to bring back another gold medal for everyone who has supported me, especially Cashino and all its venues.”

Cashino area manager Gill Clulow added: “It has been wonderful to have had Jade come along to our venue here in Chester as it gives the local community a chance to get up close with one of British sport’s most respected young athletes.

“Jade is a tremendous talent and a pleasure to meet, everyone at Cashino is delighted to be sponsoring her. We will be cheering her on at the next Olympics and we are confident she will do us all proud once again.”
