Hang out in the poshest garden shed in Chester and you won’t be disappointed.

The dark ‘cool’ atmosphere of St Werburgh Street’s previous venue, The Living Room, has given way to the rustic charm of The Botanist, as the city’s newest bar and restaurant opened to the public on Monday, April 28.

Customers are transported to the set of Gardener’s World, minus Alan Titchmarsh, but with lots of rough wood, stone, ornamental watering cans and even a wheelbarrow in the outdoor roof garden.

Although the basic lay-out remains the same, the main bar has been opened up, with the false ceiling removed, so that natural light can flood in.

Ordering a drink, you are aware that a bike-cum-motorbike hybrid is hanging above your head, incorporating a rotating chain linked to the overhead fan.
