The Neston Strummers have hit the right notes in aid of a worthy cause.

The ukelele group’s latest gigs included a stint entertaining shoppers at the Port Arcades, Ellesmere Port, and have raised just over £400, bringing their current total to just over £1,850.

Proceeds are being donated to The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and the group is hoping to collect £2,000 by the end of the year.

Elspeth Wilson, fundraising manager at The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, said: “We are so grateful to the Neston Strummers for supporting the charity over the past year.

“They’ve raised over £1,850 and are aiming to hit £2,000 by the end of the year, so they’re well on their way!

“The amazing amount they have raised will allow us to fund vital cancer research, help provide the best possible care and offer life changing services that may otherwise be unavailable, such as our patient counsellor and overnight relatives’ accommodation.

“It is thanks to the dedication and commitment of groups like the Neston Strummers that we will be able to embark on a journey to change cancer care for the better.

“We are calling on people from across the region to get behind us and our Let’s Transform Cancer Care mission.

“We have a real opportunity to achieve great things as we invest in our hospital in Wirral and build a new cancer hospital in Liverpool.”
