POLICE are hunting a gang of yobs who chucked dog muck in a bus driver’s face.

Det Sgt Paul Mason, of Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit, described the group’s behaviour as “disgraceful”.

The incident took place on Wharton Road at 9.30pm on Friday night when the Arriva bus stopped to drop off passengers.

“A group of about 10 youths started throwing cans and bottles at the bus,” said DS Mason. “And when the door opened someone threw a substance, which we think was dog excrement, in the drivers face.”

CCTV footage has been handed to police.

DS Mason said: “This kind of behaviour if totally unacceptable. The driver was just doing his job and he shouldn’t have to put up with this kind of disgraceful act.

“We will be doing everything we can to establish who is responsible for this disgusting incident.”

Arriva spokesman Nick Gordon said: “Thankfully, this type of mindless behaviour does not happen too often, although when it does we always work with local police.

“Attempting to disrupt bus services in this manner is not only stupid and potentially dangerous, but also extremely upsetting.”
