A YOUTH volunteering event is being held in Ellesmere Port on Wednesday, November 19.

Run by the borough council and Cheshire’s Vinvolved team, the event runs from 4-6pm for people aged 16-25 years.

Held at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, it will provide them with the opportunity to find out how they can volunteer within the community.

Volunteering is a good way of developing skills, building confidence and meeting new people.

The event will include information on the Vawards, a programme set up to recognise and reward people for the number of volunteer hours they complete.

There will be a guest speaker from the Youth Action Team and a bank of volunteering opportunities to access in the area.

Sarah Parry, the council’s community development officer, said: “By volunteering you can enhance your knowledge and experiences, and meet new people.

“It’s a great way to give something back to your local area and offer your skills to support the development of local services and projects.

“We hope this event will offer a pathway for young people of Ellesmere Port & Neston to find out how they can make a difference through volunteering in their community.”
