A YOUTH club will be piloted at Hope Farm community centre from next week.

Feedback from the local Neighbourhood Action Group to the council’s Our Place team showed a youth group or forum was needed in the area to help tackle anti-social behaviour and give young people somewhere to go.

The council will provide youth workers for a 12-week pilot club for 12 to 16-year-olds, beginning on Tuesday, October 16, from 6-8.30pm.

Local member councillor Paul Donovan, who supported the project with Cllr Nicole Meardon, said: “There hasn’t been youth provision in this area of Ellesmere Port for many years now and I really welcome efforts to engage with our young people.

“This pilot project will provide a safe and educational place to work with local young people and keep them off the streets and I hope many of them come along next Tuesday and see what’s on offer.

“The youth club pilot will run from next week until Christmas. Dependent on numbers and the success of the scheme, I hope to see it continue next year.”
