A TEENAGER has been banned from shops at Cheshire Oaks after routinely abusing staff.

Liam Hemmel, 16, was slapped with an anti-social behaviour order at Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston Magistrates Court on Friday banning him from entering stores at the retail outlet, climbing on roofs and throwing objects at buildings.

The West Cheshire College student had been involved in anti-social behaviour in the Stanney area, Cholmondeley Road and Cheshire Oaks area with various groups of youths. They intimidated and abused members of the public and staff, repeatedly targeting the same victims.

Hemmel and his friends have also targeted shops on Bunbury Green and had previously been convicted of a racially aggravated public order offence against a staff member in one of the shops.

Hemmel was named as one of the youths Lakitah Kamara was ordered not to associate with under the terms of her anti-social behaviour order, imposed in October.

PC Amy Beaumont, of the anti-social behaviour team, Ellesmere Port said: “The police and Cheshire West and Chester Council are determined to stop disorder as residents and staff who work in the Ellesmere Port area are entitled to spend time free of threats and disruption from anti-social behaviour.

“We hope the ASBO will improve the quality of life for a number of people in the area and give Liam a chance to improve his life and choose a different path.

“With the help of the local community this ASBO will be monitored and enforced very robustly and we encourage members of the community to report any breaches.

“I would like to praise the brave residents and staff who have come forward to the police to enable the ASBO to be obtained. The community should be empowered by the majority who are willing to stand up to these anti-social individuals.

“We believe the only way anti-social behaviour can be reduced is for people to continue to report any incidents to the police on 101 or Cheshire West and Chester on 0300 123 7033.”
