AN ORGANISATION which supports children and young people with disabilities has been nominated for a Your Champions team award.
Its manager, Carol Gardner, reckons Dynamic Volunteers of Bradbury House, Salisbury Road, Wrexham, should win the team award.
Carol said: “Nothing is too much trouble. The 35 volunteers are dedicated and give selfless support to children and young people, aged from eight to 25 years old.
“There’s an after-school club, weekend and holiday activities group. Things like social skills are helped. We also go on lots of day trips. The summer holidays are almost upon us. It should be a busy time but very enjoyable.
“We have hundreds of children using our services. Sooner or later we’ll have to consider new premises. Bradbury House is a great Victorian building but it isn’t big enough for our needs anymore.”
Dynamic began as a small group in the 1980s and in 1996 became a registered charity.
That’s when Carol joined Dynamic.
The parents of a child who attends Dynamic, the Jones family, have nominated Carol for the person award.
They said: “Carol’s role at Dynamic sees her working tirelessly to ensure the group meets the needs of young people with disabilities while volunteering where she can and running her family home.
“She is dedicated beyond the call of duty to the young people who attend Dynamic.”
Carol was pleasantly surprised to be nominated.
She said: “It’s very nice of the family to put my name forward. But it’s not all my own work.
“It’s a shared responsibility we have here and I’m extremely proud of all involved, from the families to the volunteers and trustees.”
