WOMEN’S darts champion Anastasia Dobromyslova has been nominated for a Your Champions award.

At the tender age of 27, the Russian native, who lives in Ellesmere Port, has achieved more than most can dream of in a lifetime.

Her remarkable accomplishments in the world of darts, including the British Darts Organisation’s amateur women’s world champion, have led her to be put forward in the category of Sporting Champion of the Year for the annual Trinity Mirror and ScottishPower accolades scheme.

Anastasia, who is married to fellow darts player Tony Martin, has been described as ‘one of the best women to ever play the sport’, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down.

This January she was crowned Champion of the World for a second time after an epic victory over number one player Deta Hedman.

She has held her own in the male-dominated world of darts, and has been playing since the age of 11.

Her career took off when she won a major youth championship in 1999 at the age of 15.

Huge successes followed, and before long she was competing on a level playing field with professional male players in world-class competitions.

On hearing the news she had been nominated for a Your Champions award, Anastasia said: “Sounds good, wow! That is very good to hear, I am very, very pleased.”
