A DVD project, which featured two young people from Wrexham talking about their experiences of being homeless, has been nominated for a national award.

The duo, from The Foyer in Wrexham, a supported living project managed by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, helped script and edit the film and act scenes about life as a young homeless person.

More than 100 service users were asked to contribute their ideas for the project and they held their own X Factor-style audition to decide who would appear in the DVD.

The project, led by Scott Robinson, a Clwyd Alyn project worker from Greenbank Villas in Flint, has been nominated for the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Cymru awards, with the winner announced on May 1.

The annual awards are presented by TPAS, which promotes the involvement of tenants and residents with their landlords.

Andy Roberts, supported living manager at Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, who nominated the project for the TPAS award, said: “The DVD project has been a great success and has shown that service users, if given a genuine opportunity to become involved in promoting supported accommodating will do so, and the final result can me much more effective, speaking directly to those who may potentially use our supported living services in the future.”
