HEAVY snowfall and freezing temperatures forced three school closures in Wrexham this week.

Rhosddu Primary School was shut on Monday due to a central heating breakdown

while St Mary's Primary School in Brymbo and Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen were closed for health and safety reasons.

But during the worst of the weather on Saturday night

and Sunday morning, there were no major incidents on the roads due to the weather according to North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said that they received no callouts either.

'It was a quiet weekend,' said fire service spokeswoman Bethan Millington. 'We didn't have to free anyone from snowdrifts or major accident scenes.'

Police spokeswoman Sian Brennan said: 'A few lorries jack-knifed on the dual carriageways but were righted without incident and there were no road accidents at all.'
