ARE you proud of your local food, keen on your cooking, and do you have a great Cheshire recipe that you would like to share?

The Grosvenor Shopping Centre Chester has teamed up with The Pioneer to help celebrate the glorious food of Cheshire.

Over the next four weeks, they’re inviting you to send in your favourite ancient and modern Cheshire recipes, and be in with a chance of getting them presented on-line, and printed in a special Cheshire-themed recipe booklet.

Whether you make a mouth-watering Cheshire apple pie, warming pheasant casserole, or your steak and ale pie is the talk of the town, we would like you to share your version of your favourite recipes with us.

All recipes should contain at least one of your favourite Cheshire ingredients – from bread, vegetables and cheese, to mouth-watering Cheshire-brewed ales, venison and fruit.

The competition features seven categories: Best Starter, Best Main Course, Best Pudding, Best Dish from a Young Person (aged 17 or under), Best Student Dish (aged 18-24 years), Best Cheshire Cheese Dish and Best Vegetarian Dish. Readers can enter as many categories as they wish.

All recipes will be judged by celebrity TV chef Richard Cawley, from Ready Steady Cook, along with some of Chester’s top chefs and representatives of The Grosvenor Shopping Centre and thePioneer.

Judges will also select one overall winning recipe, with the winner receiving a luxurious overnight stay for two worth more than £500 at The Chester Grosvenor Hotel and Spa five star hotel

The winner and their guest will stay in a superior executive hotel room, enjoy a delicious three-course meal in the award-winning La Brasserie restaurant, along with champagne on arrival and a full English breakfast the following day.

All seven winners will also receive £100 to spend at any store of their choice within The Grosvenor Shopping Centre, with all seven runners-up having the option to win a prize of £50 to spend in The Grosvenor Shopping Centre or a seasonal case of fine wines.

The commemorative recipe booklet will feature the recipes of the seven winners and seven runners-up in each category.

Julie Webb, manager of The Grosvenor Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted to team up with the Pioneer to help celebrate all that’s best about Cheshire food and drink.

“Whether it’s a family recipe or your own version, we want to hear all about it and get the people of Cheshire celebrating the glorious food on their doorstep.”
