BILINGUAL Welsh/English Childcare Level 2/3 students from Yale College met Wrexham MP Ian Lucas and AM Lesley Griffiths as part of their experiences and activities provided for Welsh Baccalaureate studies.

Keen to gain an insight into what it means to be a politician and how politics affects our everyday lives, the students raised topical issues and asked questions.

The politicians provided information on a range of areas including EMA and anticipated childcare qualifications relative to expected remuneration.

The learners gleaned details of famous politicians and diplomats met at home and abroad providing them with a realistic idea of the breadth and depth of political interaction.

“We were all very pleased with the overall outcomes of the event,” said Lynda Ellis, programme co-ordinator for childcare and education courses.

“The students continue to develop their ideas relative to their own political interests and have been proactive in writing letters and discussing possible ways that they can develop their own political knowledge and understanding.”
