WREXHAM town was adorned with anti-George W Bush posters this week to mark the President's state visit to the UK.

President Bush is staying at Buckingham Palace during his trip, but anti-war protestors from the Wrexham Peace and Justice Forum (WPJF) joined thousands of demonstrators across the country in voicing their opposition to the war with Iraq.

Banners proclaiming 'Go Home Bush' and 'Bush Not Welcome Here' were erected on railings outside the North East Wales Institute (NEWI) and on the Plas Coch roundabout.

Spokesperson for the WPJF Genny Bove said: 'It's shocking Bush should be invited here after the fiasco of the war with Iraq. It is clear he is not welcome. Many families of soldiers killed in Iraq have declined to meet him.

'Members of Wrexham Peace and Justice Forum will be joining protests in London over the next few days to add our voice to the huge opposition to Bush's presence here.'
