OLDER people living in the county borough will get the opportunity to quiz Wales’s Older People’s Commissioner, Ruth Marks, next week.

The event has been organised by Wrexham County Borough Council and will give audience members an opportunity to ask questions that directly affect them.

It will be held in the Memorial Hall, Wrexham, on Tuesday, May 19, at 1pm.

Ms Marks will be greeted by the mayor of Wrexham, Cllr David Griffiths, on the last official visit of his mayoralty year.

Assisting older people to live independently is a key improvement priority for the council.

Lead member for social care and health, Cllr Joan Lowe, said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome Ruth Marks to Wrexham to hear the views of the local people.

“Older people’s care is an important area of focus for the council and we should not underestimate the power of this group of people within our communities.

“Their views and opinions mean a lot to us and we hope that during this visit we will be able to gain knowledge that will shape older people’s services for the future.”
