FOLLOWING the success of Nightingale House Hospice’s Ladies Midnight Walk last year, fundraisers are getting ready to stride forth again.
The 2008 Midnight Walk raised more than £170,000 and saw more than 1,600 women take part.
But for this year’s event, on Saturday, June 27, the unit needs your help more than ever.
Louise Aubrey, corporate and event fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice, said: “This year our Government funding has decreased from 20% to only 18%.
“So we need your help now more than ever to help raise funds and to make this year’s walk even bigger and better.
“The atmosphere of last year’s Ladies’ Midnight Walk was fabulous, spirits were at an all-time high and everyone had a wonderful time.
“We had lots of people walking in memory of their loved ones, which was really touching and definitely helped reinforce the importance of the walk.
“Please register now and help your local hospice and local community.”
The Ladies’ Midnight Walk is a sponsored 10- mile walk around Wrexham.
It starts from Llwyn Isaf, in front of the Guildhall, at the stroke of midnight, and follows a well-lit paved route around Wrexham and is fully supported by a team of marshals who work with the local police.
Entry costs £10 and every walker receives a midnight walk T-shirt, which this year will be a bright sunset orange/red, refreshments along the way, a goody bag, and a medal at the finishing post.
Bunny ears and glow sticks will be on sale on the night, with all proceeds going to the hospice.
