WREXHAM youngsters will be able to defy the laws of gravity and walk on water when staff at Plas Madoc Leisure Centre unveil their new Water Walkerz this summer.

Plas Madoc will be the only leisure facility in the Wrexham area to offer sessions in the huge transparent plastic balls, which have already proved to be a huge hit in Anglesey.

Anyone between the ages of eight and 15 can jump into one of the inflatable spheres and head for the pool.

Throughout the summer holiday children aged 16 and under will have the opportunity to try Water Walkerz between 4.30pm and 5.30pm each Friday as part of the National Assembly for Wales’s free swimming initiative.

Helen Laidler, Wrexham swimming and aquatic development officer, said: “Water Walkerz are already very popular in Japan and starting to cause a lot of excitement over here too.

“They provide an ideal opportunity for the user to have lots of fun and get some exercise at the same time.”

She added: “There will be lots of other activities on offer to choose from at leisure centres throughout the holidays, including snorkelling, aqua jogging, mini polo and fun sessions.”
