WREXHAM manager Dean Saunders is pressing ahead with the recruitment of yet more new players and yesterday made it clear that some members of his current squad are living on borrowed time.

The Racecourse boss introduced two loan signings in last Saturday’s Blue Square Premier victory against Lewes and is targeting more arrivals before the Dragons’ next league

match at Weymouth on Saturday week.

Favourites to come in alongside Saturday debutants Ritchie De Laet and Angelos Tsiaklis are Manchester City defender Sam Williamson and Senegalese striker Daniel Bocane, both of whom are currently training with the club, but Saunders is keeping all his options open.

“With no game this Saturday there is no point in signing anyone on loan this week,” he said. “But we have got players in mind and the extra few days means I can make sure I’m going for the right ones.”

The arrival of De Laet and Tsiaklis increased the size of the Racecourse senior squad to 31, including youngsters Chris Maxwell and Chris Marriott who are currently on loan to Welsh Premier League clubs, and Saunders admitted that a cull was imminent.

“I’ll be making decisions on some of the players here at the end of the week and will sit down with them to see what their feelings are,” he added.

“There will be one or two who probably know how the land lies, even though they have been very professional and have kept on training properly. But I’ve been brought into the club to improve things and that’s what I’m aiming to do.”

Meanwhile, Wrexham have postponed their home clash with Forest Green Rovers after captain Neil Taylor and brothers Mike and Marc Williams were yesterday called up by Wales semi-pro boss Terry Boyle for the final match of the International Challenge Trophy series against Finland.

The postponement means Saunders will be able to fulfil his duties with Wales.

Meanwhile defender Carl Tremarco, who is currently nursing an ankle injury, is hoping to be fit to join up with the England C squad for their final International Challenge Trophy match in Italy, which is being played next Wednesday.
