WREXHAM are in talks to play a trio of Premier League outfits in pre-season friendlies.

Dragons boss Dean Saunders is in negotiations to take on mega-rich Manchester City, Stoke City and newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers in the build-up to the 2009-10 Blue Square Premier campaign.

Definitely on their way to the Racecourse are Championship duo Coventry City and Preston North End.

Coventry, managed by former Wales international Chris Coleman, will come to town on Saturday, July 11 (3pm) and have agreed to donate their fee from the match to Wrexham’s highly-successful Centre of Excellence.

Preston, who missed promotion to the top flight with play-off defeat to Sheffield United, will visit the home of the Dragons on Tuesday, July 21 (7.30pm).

The clash with the Lilywhites will be a special one for Nathan Fairhurst, the 19-year- old who late last week turned down a new contract with Preston to sign a one-year deal with Wrexham, having impressed Saunders on loan last season.

Saunders has also agreed a one-year incentive-based contract with former Hibs winger Jamie McCluskey, the 21-year-old who joined the Dragons at the turn of the year after a lengthy break from the game because of injury, but he is waiting on striker Matt Jansen to decide his future.
