WREXHAM County Borough Council’s parking attendants are getting on their bikes to help the council tackle traffic congestion.

From this week the council’s six civil enforcement officers will be able to saddle up and complete some of their patrols on bicycles to navigate the streets more quickly.

Cllr David Bithell, lead member for the environment and transport, said: “Parking enforcement is a vital part of keeping our roads moving and tackling inconsiderate parking. This scheme allows the civil enforcement officers to cover a wider area more easily, without adding to the volume of motor traffic on our streets and helping us to reduce the council’s carbon footprint – a key priority.”
