WREXHAM County Borough Council is entering the Wales in Bloom Royal Horticultural Society campaign for the third consecutive year.

It will be encouraging the whole community, from residential and community groups to businesses, volunteers and schools, to increase civic pride in the area.

As in the past two years, the council will also be encouraging Wrexham’s pubs to get involved by entering its ‘best floral display’ competition.

To enter, the overall public house display must consist of a minimum of four planters, window boxes or hanging baskets, and extra points will be awarded for creative planting schemes with good use of colour and structure.

Environmentally friendly planting schemes will also receive extra points for the use of homegrown plants, peat-free compost and perlite beads to retain water.

Letters and entry forms will be sent to pubs across the borough this month.

Entrants should return their forms by Friday, June 12.
