WREXHAM council has introduced 26 new pay-and-display machines in its town centre car parks.
This represents an investment of more than £80,000 in the council’s town centre parking facilities.
The machines, supplied by Metric Group, have advanced security features and technology, which has been approved by the British Council of Disabled People and meets industry standards.
They are able to communicate directly with the council’s parking office via GPS technology, which means in the event of a fault with a machine the council is able to respond quicker.
In addition, work has been completed to allow better access to the machines to assist people with mobility issues and pushchairs.
The majority of the machines became operational to coincide with changes to parking charges.
Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for the environment and transport, said it underlines the commitment of the council to continue to invest in improving parking facilities.
