NORTH Wales’ newest rock festival is set for next weekend (Jul 25 and 26).

Y Ffin Festival which will link with Mold Carnival takes place at the Rec, Maes Bodlonfa, Mold on Saturday and Sunday

The line up for the free rock and pop festival on Saturday includes many nationally acclaimed bands such as Sibrydion, The Roseville Band, Mr Phormula, Derwyddon Dr Gonzo and Racehorses (formerly Radio Luxembourg).

On a local level, Mold’s Lupin Thieves, Mechanical Owl and singer Meilir Tomos from Caerwys will be performing on the main stage.

Winners of Tivoli’s Battle of the Bands competition, Sinner Men from Wrexham will kick off the festival.

In addition to the main stage performances which run from 12:00 til 9pm, an eco-teepee with acoustic and bardic performances and workshops will take place during Saturday afternoon, offering a lighter mood to the event.

Artists include Nia Morgan, Rhys Trimble, Johnny Fluffypunk and Mold’s very own poet Sophie McKeand plus more.

This year’s carnival floats start from 11am from Somerfield supermarket car park, Sunday July 26. The carnival includes quad bikes, local morris dancers, clay pigeon, paintball and a climbing wall.

Parking in Mold town is limited on a Saturday, so people from outside the town are advised to use the public car parks or alternatively, there is free parking at Mold’s County Hall which is a short 15 minutes walk to the Rec. More information is available from Y Ffin website, www.yffin.co.uk
