SIX stars made history as Wrexham Athletic Club powered to a major medal haul at the North Wales Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Amanda Wale, Stephen Spires, Steven Frost, Gawain Rogers and Megan Rogers set championship records at the North Wales Indoor Athletics Centre while Thomas Cusworth equalled one.

Wrexham won 23 gold, 15 silver and six bronze medals in total.

Wrexham’s Darren Rowlands won the Hangover Hobble Fell Run in Llandegla in 33.07mins while Lisa Morley was the third lady home in 41.29 and Peter Norman the fastest M70 in 55.41.

That followed Norman’s 28th-placed finish at the Jubilee Plunge Fell Run around Moel Famau in 21.22, nine places behind clubmate Charles Ashley in 17.07.

Adrian Bryan was 54th in 40.01 at the Garstang 10k in Preston and Ruth Pearson 319th in 52.30.
