DENBIGHSHIRE'S Heritage Service has added a creative writing workshop to its list of activities celebrating Museums and Galleries.

The workshop, based on a quilting theme, takes place at Plas Newydd, Llangollen, on May 21. The first session takes place between 11am and 1pm, the other between 2pm and 4pm and funded by the Academi.

The Sara Pugh Jones patchwork quilt from the Plas Newydd collection will be the day's inspiration.

The sessions will be hosted by Elin ap Hywel, a poet and translator who has read her own poetry at many festivals and gatherings, both in Wales and abroad. Elin has facilitated many creative writing workshops, including courses at the Ty Newydd Writing Centre at Llanystumdwy.

Elin will be joined by Andy Harrop, a storyteller and performer who has 11 years experience of telling stories to a wide range of audiences.

He tells traditional and contemporary stories from the UK and abroad, transporting his audiences to imaginary places.

Andy's repertoire includes a myriad of folk tales, fairy tales, ghost stories and epics from mythology and legend. He will demonstrate his storytelling skills every hour throughout the day, and will include the story of The Quilt Maker's Gift.

Places are limited to a maximum of 12 people in each session, so book early by contacting the Heritage Service on 01824 708281.
