A FUNDRAISER has had a close shave for charity.

Val Taylor, of Crescent Road, Ellesmere Port, shaved her head at the Station Pub, Station Road, earlier this month to raise funds for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Val, 51, did her hair-raising stunt with the help of local hairdressers Suzanne and Claire Jones of Scizzor Sisters Barber Shop.

The Costco employee was supported in her fundraising bid by Tommy Rag of Robber’s Dogs Motorcycle Club.

She said: “I lost my mum and my grandad to cancer and my sister was treated at Clatterbridge many years ago so I just thought the hospice was a great cause to raise money for.

“I had loads of support from my colleagues at Costco and everyone in the pub was cheering me on.

“Suzanne and Claire who shaved my head said it made me look 10 years younger.

“It was a bit of a shock when I looked in the mirror but it was much better than I expected and I would do it again if the right cause came up.”

Tommy said: “We are on course to raise £550. A big thank you to the Station pub for hosting it everyone who supported Val.”
