A WOMAN who verbally abused bank staff has been given a four-week curfew.

Tracey Lianne Cobb, of Pooltown Road, Ellesmere Port, pleaded guilty to two public order offences when she appeared at Chester and Ellesmere Port Magistrates Court on Monday.

Wendy Newton, prosecuting, told the court Cobb, 24, visited the HSBC branch in Ellesmere Port on September 28.

Cobb approached Helen Doherty, a member of bank counter staff, and asked to carry out a transaction that Miss Doherty informed her needed to be done via telephone banking.

Miss Newton described how after Miss Doherty went to check something in the back office, Cobb became angry and shouted at her: “You walked away mid-conversation with me.”

She continued to be abusive, shouting: “You won’t be behind that glass at 5.30pm.”

It’s also alleged she threatened Miss Doherty, saying: “I can find out where you live,” although this is denied by Cobb.

Before leaving, Cobb shouted “I’ll be back at 11am and you won’t have the glass screen.”

Miss Newton told magistrates that another staff member, Craig McLachlan, was also left shaken by the incident.

On a subsequent visit to Cobb’s address on October 2, two police officers were verbally abused by Cobb as she hung out of an upstairs window, claiming she was being harassed.

The court heard that Cobb had been given an 18-month community order on July 23 for two public order offences, one assault, one resisting a police officer and a criminal damage matter.

Defending, Phil Axon said Cobb admitted having ‘anger management’ problems and told police when interviewed about the incident she’d had a ‘bad day’.

He added: “She felt immense frustration at going into a branch and being told that she had to go via telephone banking.”

He highlighted how she went back the next day and apologised to the staff involved. Magistrates imposed a four-week 8pm-7am curfew on Cobb.
