TONIGHT’S UniBond Challenge Cup fourth-round tie between Witton Albion and Marine has been called off.
Referee Trevor Massey postponed the match at 2.45pm today after confirming the playing surface at Wincham Park was frozen solid.
The game has provisionally been arranged for Thursday night (7.45pm) but that is not yet confirmed and may also be cancelled due to the sub-zero temperatures.
If Thursday’s game is confirmed but does not survive the big freeze then the Albion are next in action when they host Matlock Town in a UniBond Premier six-pointer on Saturday (3pm).
Fellow strugglers Matlock are just one point ahead of Gary Finley’s Witton side and a victory for the hosts could see them climb out of the bottom four.
