A 57-YEAR-OLD taxi driver has died after a head-on collision with a car in Cheshire.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the accident, on the A49 Sandiway at Northwich near the junction with the A556, in the early hours on Saturday.

The victim, who has not been named but is from nearby Winsford, was taken by ambulance to Leighton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His female passenger, and the two 17-year-old occupants of the other vehicle - a female driver and passenger - were all treated for minor injuries.

The crash happened just after midnight as the taxi, a silver Skoda Octavia, pulled out of a Shell garage forecourt and collided with a blue Citroen C2.
