A SHOPLIFTER who stole meat and tablets from a Weaverham shop has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Angela McDougal, 30, of Chiltern Way, Winsford, stole the items, worth £17.16, from the Co-op on Northwich Road on March 13 and pleaded guilty to theft at Chester Magistrates Court the next day.

She was handed a two-week prison term, suspended for 12 months, because of her previous criminal record.

McDougal was also made the subject of a 12-month supervision order and was ordered to pay £45 court costs.
