WINSFORD United stopped the rot after three consecutive defeats in the Vodkat Premier League, with a battling draw at Maine Road last night (Tuesday).

Blues striker got the visitors off to a flying start after just two minutes when he fired United in front.

But celebrations were soon cut short when Maine Road hit back immediately with a goal of their own from Cheetham.

Joe Gibiliru’s men soon found themselves up against it at Brantingham Road when Zajac put the hosts ahead but eight before halt-time Sean Holmes brought the Blues back level.

After the break, both sides’ freescoring form dried up and were forced to settle for a share of the spoils from a game watched by a meagre crowd of 45.

Blues’ next fixture is next Tuesday’s Mid Cheshire Senior Cup clash with local rival Middlewich Town at the Barton Stadium (7.45ko).
