A LEISURE facility at a Winsford school is introducing yoga classes to help beat recession stress.

Woodford Lodge Sports Centre, which is run by Chester and District Sports and Recreation Trust (CADSART), has brought in an experienced yoga expert to help people living in the area cope with financial worries.

Bridget Bonehill, who will be taking the class on Tuesday from 6-7.30pm said more people had been turning to yoga recently.

Bridget said: “It’s about equipping our mind as well as our body for a more peaceful and relaxed approach to life.

“Anyone can do Hatha yoga. You work at your own pace, in your own time and there is no competition. It’s all about you and your body.”

Jon Kelly, operations manager at CADSART, said the organisation was trying to do everything it could to make life easier for people.

“We’re living through difficult times and it can be frustrating to have so little control over the economic situation,” he said. “However exercising is something we can control and taking up yoga is a positive step that will help people cope with the stresses and strains that can be caused by modern lifestyles.”

The 90-minute sessions, which cost £3, will focus on breathing and relaxation as well as toning and strengthening the body.
