A LATE night reader of our sister title the Chester Chronicle has been revealed as the winner of our £10,000 kitchen competition.

Gerard McDonald of The Bridleway, off Liverpool Road in Upton, describes himself as an ‘insomniac’ who spotted the competition while reading the paper just after 3am one sleepless night.

He saw that we had teamed up with JAR Developments to offer readers the chance to win a fully fitted new kitchen to the value of £10,000.

“I filled it in and left it there on the kitchen table,” said Mr McDonald. “My son came in later that day and told me what was the point as I never win anything, not even an argument!”

Despite this, the regular reader posted off his entry and now he is looking forward to JAR Developments starting work on his new kitchen.

But he admits that when he got the call to pass on the good pre-Christmas news, he was sceptical.

“I really thought it was somebody pulling my leg and I said to them “pull the other one, it’s got bells on”.

“I still can’t believe it now. I feel like I have found the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.”

Mr McDonald was visited at home by John Douglas from JAR Developments along with Charlie Marlow from Dee 106.3 which announced him as the winner during a live broadcast.
