Wincham teenager on shortlist for national prize

A 17-YEAR-OLD student from Wincham has been shortlisted for a national photography award in a competition run by the RSPCA.

A 17-YEAR-OLD student from Wincham has been shortlisted for a national photography award in a competition run by the RSPCA.

Avid snapper Sarah Bennett’s image of a fledgling blue-tit, entitled Onwards and Upwards, has been nominated in the 12-18s category of the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards 2008.

The judges have whittled down the thousands of entries to a shortlist of 33 spectacular shots. Sarah’s picture shows the baby bird frantically trying to climb a wall and flapping its wings to get airborne.

Model Penny Lancaster and BBC Really Wild Show presenter Nick Baker are among the judges, who will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony at the Tower of London on Friday, December 12.
